Life in Retirement - Quilting #1
Back to Life in Retirement
By Yvette Nehou
Participating in a quilting group is rewarding on more than one front.
It’s wonderful to give time, creating something that benefits others. This quilt will comfort a Cat Lover who has to move to a nursing home and is no longer able to care about his own cats.
I just love the camaraderie with the women who designed their quilts to reflect their loved ones. When one receives a quilt it’s like a memory book of the past that you can wrap around you.
Quilts bring the feeling of comfort and warmth to young children in orphanages.
Historically, secret messages in the form of quilt patterns aided slaves escaping the bonds of captivity in the Southern states before and during the American Civil War.
